About Us

FIREupdate.com is a website dedicated to keeping everyone informed about the latest in the Southern California Wildfires of 2003.  If you would like to support the cause, please visit our donate page.

This site is completely setup and updated by me.  I put it up because details of the fire are hard to come by.  If you have information, please help me out and send it to me.  Read about our star contact in the Mountains below.  I'm so proud.  He's my dad!

Ranger Al

Ranger Al is the lead reporter for FIREupdate.com.  His family has been in the San Bernardino mountains since the early 1940's and have survived their house being burned down in the past.  Ranger Al served 10 years in the Forest Service in the San Bernardino Mountains and is a 30-year retired fire captain for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Even though the mountain had an immediate evacuation order, Ranger Al has stayed behind to keep everyone updated.  While the whole mountain was without electricity Ranger Al watched the Network News and used his phone and internet connection powered by generators.  He spent each day wandering the mountain keeping an eye on friends homes and reporting to FIREupdate.com on the status of the fires.  Ranger Al is available for media interviews and can be sent on special assignment in the mountains to check if your home is still standing.

If you have a question about a certain neighborhood first read the Burn Reports and the Current Status page to try to determine your answer.  If you still need help you can email us and do not call.  I have been having to answer over 4-500 emails a day.  I might not get back to you for hours.  We are not able to check things out and keep updating the site with so many emails and phone calls.
